The Operations Division is responsible for maintaining the streets and right of ways, providing snow and ice control, maintaining the city’s urban forest, traffic safety, operating a central store for the city, offering refuse and recycling collection, emergency management and fleet maintenance.

The purpose of this program is to provide for the planning, maintenance and evaluation of street, including roadway right of way. To ensure safe aesthetically pleasing travel for those who travel throughout the City of Beloit. To efficiently complete special projects for other divisions, departments, and the city at large.


Solid Waste (for more information please click here)

The Solid Waste Program consisting of garbage, recycling and yard waste.  The purpose of solid waste operations is to provide Beloit’s residents and city facilities with a cost effective, environmentally correct, quality service of weekly solid waste collection. Also to develop a high quality community through the responsible stewardship of city resources to enhance Beloit’s resurgence as a gem of the Rock River Valley.

The purpose of this program is to remove hazardous trees that pose a risk to the public and to adequately and aesthetically maintain the urban forest.  City crews maintain roughly 35,000  trees located in the city right-of-way, parks, cemeteries and golf course.


 Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) (for more information please click here)

Emerald Ash Borer was first sighted in the City of Beloit, April 24, 2013.  The City of Beloit has approximately 2,000 ash trees that are being evaluated and monitored while a selected grouping of ash trees are being treated to extend their life.  Ash Trees are also being systematically removed based on hazards.  It is expected all ash trees in our area will be dead within 10 years after our initial infestation on April 24, 2013.  Residents are encouraged to review the City EAB page for further information.


Snow & Ice Control (for more information please click here)

The purpose of this program is to provide safe travel throughout the city and cost effective clearing and removal of ice and snow from city streets, city owned parking lots and sidewalks.  The program strives to proactively partner with citizens to promote a safe and healthy community, minimize personal injury, prevent the loss of life, and protect property.
