Update to Comprehensive Plan (Adopted 11-5-2018)

On November 5, 2018, the City Council held a second and final reading (approval) of an Ordinance to Update the Comprehensive Plan.  The chapters included in the Plan Update can be viewed in the Document Center under Planning & Building Services.

On October 15, 2018, the City Council held a first reading of an Ordinance to Update the Comprehensive Plan.

On September 5, 2018, the Plan Commission adopted a Resolution recommending approval of the Comprehensive Plan Update as recommended by the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.

On August 14, 2018, the Committee met at the Engineering Facility and voted to recommend a Comprehensive Plan Update consisting of revisions to Chapters 1,2,4, & 7 and the Future Land Use Map (#10).

On June 26, 2018, the Committee hosted a Community Open House from 3:30-5 PM at the Merrill Community Center.  On June 27, 2018, the Committee hosted a second Community Open House from 4:30-6PM at the Beloit Historical Society.  Thank you to residents who attended and provided valuable feedback.

On May 22, 2018, the Committee met and reviewed Planning staff's draft updates to Chapters 1, 2, 4, & 7 of the Plan.

On April 25, 2018, the Committee met and updated the Housing & Neighborhood Development Chapter.

On April 11, 2018, the Committee met and approved updates to the Future Land Use Map.

On March 26, 2018, the Committee met and approved updates to the Future Land Use Map.

On March 12, 2018, the Committee met to review and update the Plan's Land Use Goals, Objectives, Policies, and Future Land Use Map.

On February 15, 2018, the Committee reviewed the first 500 responses to the Public Opinion Survey regarding Beloit's opportunities and challenges.

On January 30, 2018, our Public Opinion Survey launched.  It can be found on the main City website at www.beloitwi.gov and is available in English and Spanish.

On January 24, 2018, the Committee heard a presentation on the Community Health Assessment prepared by the Rock County Health Department and finalized the public survey questions.

On January 10, 2018, the Committee met at the Rotary River Center and finalized our public engagement strategy and drafted survey questions for an upcoming public survey.

On December 14, 2017, the Committee toured many of the housing development, redevelopment, and rehab projects underway throughout the City of Beloit.  Thanks to Beloit Transit for the tour!

On November 29, 2017, the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee held our second meeting.  We reviewed the latest demographic data and mapped opportunities and challenges.  We also discussed our future public engagement efforts.

On November 15, 2017, the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee held our kick-off meeting.  Our agenda included an overview of the existing Comprehensive Plan and the update process.

On November 6, 2017, the Beloit City Council approved the creation of a Steering Committee to review the Comprehensive Plan and to recommend updates to the plan text and maps.

On October 18, 2017, the Plan Commission initiated an update to the 2008 Comprehensive Plan, which will involve assembling a Steering Committee to review the Comprehensive Plan and to recommend changes to the plan text and maps.
