The purpose of this program is to adequately and aesthetically maintain the urban forest, which consists of approximately 35,000 trees that are maintained by the City of Beloit located in the right-of-way, parks, cemeteries and on the golf course.

Maintaining an urban forest safely and efficiently requires a highly trained and skilled team.  The safety of the workers and the public is of top priority.

Forestry Operations provides the following services on city property to residents:

  • Tree Removal

    • City crews will only remove dead or hazardous trees on City owned property.

  • Tree Trimming

    • Tree Trimming will be scheduled by priority and date of request.  Bushes in an alley are the responsibility of the homeowner.
  • Stump Removal and Restoration

    • All trees cut down by the city will have the stump removed and the surface will be restored with topsoil and grass seed.  It is up to the homeowner to water the newly planted grass seed.
  • Tree Planting

    • Seasonal tree planting is free to city residents by request only - on a first come, first serve basis.  Trees will only be planted on city property.
  • Wood Chips

    • Free wood chips are available on a first come, first serve basis.  The free wood chips are located on the south end of the Krueger-Haskell Golf Course parking lot.
