Council President Regina Dunkin Files Declaration of Non-Candidacy

Today, Beloit City Council President Regina Dunkin filed her declaration of non-candidacy for the next City Council election.

President Dunkin is not seeking re-election to provide a path for others to be involved in local government. She encourages those with interest to contact the City Clerk-Treasurer’s Office to begin the process.

“Thank you to my family and the entire City of Beloit for your ongoing support over the last eight years,” President Dunkin said. “I am confident that the city will continue to move forward for the betterment of our residents.”

Four seats are up for election for the 2024-26 City Council term.

Individuals interested in running for the Beloit City Council can find the election packet at in the city’s document center at http://gouda.beloitwi.gov/weblink/Browse.aspx?dbid=0&startid=48094&row=1&cr=.

Interested candidates can begin circulating nomination papers on Friday, December 1, 2023. A minimum of 100 valid signatures of City of Beloit residents must be submitted. Staff recommends that between 100 and 200 signatures be submitted to ensure ballot access. Nomination papers and all forms must be completed and filed with the City Clerk-Treasurer by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.
