Turtle Island Playground to Open May 30
The long-awaited Turtle Island Playground is reopening with a ribbon cutting celebration at 4:30pm Friday, May 30.
Join for the ceremony and stay to explore the new space. Funded in part by the City of Beloit’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation, the playground features new amenities designed to spark imagination and adventure while also providing a more accessible space.
Turtle Island Playground is located in Riverside Park, 1160 S. Riverside Drive, Beloit.
Features include:
- Large play structure with bridge and 2 slides
- Water stream
- An accessible merry-go-round
- An accessible turtle shell swing
- A toddler playground
- Sensory boards
- Pour-in-place surface
The turtle sculpture was repainted and returned to its place greeting visitors entering the playground earlier this month.
The previous playground closed in fall 2023 due to safety hazards. The playground was removed in spring 2024 to allow kids to play in the stream last summer. Work began on the playground last fall.
