Beloit Recognized as Tree City USA

The City of Beloit is proud that its commitment to urban forestry management was recently recognized as a 2025 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.

The City of Beloit has a proud history of commitment to the planting and growth of trees throughout the community. It was honored for the 39th year with the Tree City USA distinction for its commitment to sound urban forestry management.

The recognition is based on four criteria:

  • A tree board or department
  • A tree care ordinance
  • An annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita
  • An Arbor Day observance and proclamation

The City of Beloit planted 177 trees in city parks and terraces in 2025. A tree planting event to commemorate Arbor Day will be held at 10am Thursday, April 23, in Hilliard Park, 1443 Athletic Ave. Additionally, forestry will hand out tree seedlings for residents to plant at home on Saturday, May 16, during the Beloit Farmers’ Market as part of the annual Public Works Week display (while supplies last).
