Lead Service Line Letter

We are working to take an inventory of lead pipes in our community as it relates to the private side, which is the responsibility of the property owner.

We have sent letters to properties with a lead service line, a galvanized line that was downstream of a lead line, or a line made of unknown materials. This letter was required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as part of the nationwide lead pipe service replacement requirements.

If you received the letter, please call 608-364-5735. Leave a voicemail and we will have someone call you back as soon as possible. Information on potential funding assistance for line replacements will be provided at a later date.

The City of Beloit has regularly tests for lead levels; our testing levels have stayed within allowable levels.

If you did not receive a letter, you do not need to take additional actions.

If you are looking to have your water tested for lead, here are some laboratories that can assist. Additionally lead drinking water test kits can be purchased from major retailers.
