City of Beloit Receives Tree City USA Honor
The City of Beloit is proud that its commitment to urban forestry management was recognized as a 2024 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.
The City of Beloit has a proud history of committing itself to the planting and growth of trees throughout the community. It was honored for the 37th year with the Tree City USA distinction for its commitment to sound urban forestry management.
The recognition is based on four criteria:
- A tree board or department
- A tree care ordinance
- An annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita
- An Arbor Day observance and proclamation
The City of Beloit planted 176 trees in city parks and terraces in 2024. A tree planting event to commemorate Arbor Day will be held at 9am Friday, April 25, in Zonta Memorial Park at the corner of State Street and Shirland Avenue.
Additionally, forestry will hand out tree seedlings for residents to plant at home on Saturday, May 17, during the Beloit Farmers’ Market as part of the annual Public Works Week display (while supplies last).
