Warming Shelters Opening in Rock County

Sharing this information to residents from Rock County Human Services!
 
Emergency Overnight Warming Shelters in Rock County are activated from Wednesday, 12/4 to the morning of Thursday, 12/5 based upon predicted temperature and/or wind chill below zero.  A second notification will be
sent if activation extends beyond the end date. 
 
There are three Emergency Overnight Warming Sites available during this activation period to provide overnight
shelter.
 
 
Registration is strongly encouraged to ensure availability at one of the sites which will close if there are no guests by certain times as described below. Register using the link below.
 
 
Beloit Hospital Emergency Department Lobby
o 1969 W Hart Rd, Beloit, WI
o Available 24 hours only during overnight warming shelter activation
o Single individuals or families
o Chairs are available (but not cots)
o Enter through the ED public entrance
 
The Salvation Army Rock County-Beloit location (Red Shield Center)
o REGISTRATION STRONGLY ENCOURAGED
o 628 Broad Street, Beloit WI
o Open from 7pm to 6am.  Everyone must leave the shelter at 6am.
o Intake to the shelter is 7 – 9pm.  If no one arrives by 9pm, the shelter will be closed for the night. 
o Families only 
o Enter through front door
 
GIFTS Men’s Shelter
o 1025 N. Washington Street, Janesville, WI
o Open from 8:30pm to 5am.  People must arrive between 8:30 – 9pm. If no one arrives by 9pm, the shelter will be closed for the night. 
o Everyone must leave the shelter at 5am.
o Single males.  Up to four males may stay in the GIFTS front lobby as a warming shelter.  This applies to people who are not current clients of GIFTS. 
o People on the GIFTS “do not serve” list are not eligible
