Big Hill Centennial Run & Walk to Honor 100 Years of History

Celebrate 100 years of memories at Big Hill Park with a special community run and walk for all ages and abilities. The Big Hill Centennial Run & Walk is planned for Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Event Options:

• 2K Family Fun Run/Walk (9am Start) – Perfect for families, children, walkers, and participants of all fitness levels.
• 5K Centennial Run (9:30am Start) – A timed race for runners looking to challenge themselves on a scenic course.

Want to explore more events? A group of community organizations is working together to celebrate 100 years of Big Hill Park. The Big Hill Park Celebration is brought to the community by the City of Beloit, Beloit Historical Society, Beloit College, Rock Trail Coalition and Welty Environmental Center.

·         Historic exhibits will be in the Big Hill Center lobby all fall.

·         Big Hill Bird-Day Bash: 1-4pm Saturday, September 12; a family friendly bird-themed carnival. $5 member/$8 non-member. Brought to you by the Welty Center.

·         Big Hill Park History Lecture: 1pm Saturday, September 19; a presentation about how Big Hill Park has changed over the past 100 year. Free. Brought to you by the Welty Center.

·         The Big Hill Challenge: 10am Saturday, October 3; a 1,000-meter sprint bicycle time trial on the Peace Trail that climbs 125 feet. $5 children/$20 adults. Brought to you by the Rock Trail Coalition.
