6th Street to Close for Watermain Project

Construction for the Poole, Birch and Beach watermain extension project is starting soon! Here’s a quick look at what to expect:

• Work starts April 14 and ends in mid-May, weather permitting.
• Sixth Street will be closed between Maple and Burton during the project. A detour for trucks will go along Highway 51. During construction access will be maintained for local traffic.
• Residents in impacted areas will need to put solid waste bins out by 6am on collection day. This helps our Public Works team pick it up before construction starts each morning.
• Periodic water shutoffs will be needed. The contractor and Water Resources will work together to give advanced notice to impacted residents.
• Construction will begin on the south end and will extend north.
• City engineering staff is working with Beloit Transit and other bus providers to address any impacts to routes.
