Kayak Rentals Now Available on Rock River in Beloit

Kayaks are available for rent at new locations in Beloit along the Rock River.

Starting Thursday, August 1, watercraft rentals will be accessible at the Rotary River Center docks and the John Rose Canoe & Kayak launch in the Chester Square public parking lot at 534 Fourth St.

Individuals looking to use the kayaks and watercraft will be able to rent the boats, lifejackets, and paddles at the self-serve kiosk. Paddlers will need to return the items to the kiosk on their own.

The Downtown Beloit Association, in partnership with City of Beloit economic development and parks and recreation, entered into a four-year concession agreement with The Surf Shack LLC to enhance riverfront activities.

The Surf Shack requires individuals to be 18 years old or older to rent the kayaks. Individuals younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Rates

  • Single kayaks:  $12/first hour; $9/additional hour(s)
  • Tandem kayaks: $17/first hour; $12/additional hour(s)

Hours

The kayak rentals are available to rent starting at sunrise through one hour before sunset. All rentals must be returned by sunset.

This initiative is part of a strategic partnership aiming to increase public engagement and recreational activities in the community.
