City of Beloit Kicks Off Traffic Safety Action Plan
The City of Beloit is starting its citywide traffic safety action plan and is inviting the community to take a survey and attend a public information meeting from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Beloit Public Library.
“We’re committed to making transportation safer for everyone in the City of Beloit,” City of Beloit City Engineer Scot Prindiville, PE said. “We want residents, businesses and other stakeholders to help us identify safety concerns and shape practical strategies that can reduce serious injuries and, ultimately, prevent roadway fatalities in Beloit.”
This Safety Action Plan is part of the City’s work under the USDOT’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program.
The meeting will be held in an open-house format, meaning attendees can drop in at any time between 4-6 p.m. to review exhibits, ask questions and provide input on safety concerns about transportation safety in their own communities. All materials will be posted on the City’s project website following the meeting.
The public meeting is the first of several opportunities for community members to provide input throughout the Safety Action Plan process. The City will host a second public involvement meeting in the winter and work collaboratively with local stakeholders and a task force throughout the study.
Community Survey Open until 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2
In addition to the meeting, the City of Beloit has launched a community-wide Safer Streets survey to gather feedback on safety issues specific to local streets and roads. The survey, which is available in both English and Spanish, will remain open until 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.
More information, including a link to the survey, is available at: https://www.beloitwi.gov/ss4a.
