Save the Date: Public Input Session Scheduled for Turtle Creek Park Improvements

A public input session has been scheduled on the second phase of the Turtle Creek Park Master Plan project. The meeting will be held at 4pm Wednesday, June 5, at Turtle Creek Park, 1312 E. Grand Ave., Beloit.


The community is welcome to attend and provide feedback on conceptual plans.

The plans include demolition of the bathhouse, construction of new restrooms, installation of bike racks, signage, a kiosk, unity columns, picnic tables, grills, waste receptacles, and a bike oasis.
 
The Beloit City Council reserved $1 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to complete the second phase in the park’s master plan.
The Turtle Creek Master Plan was developed in 2019 with a significant amount of community stakeholder input and feedback, including those individuals who spent their summers at the pool that was predominantly used by African-Americans in the 60s. Future phases of the park includes features to document the past history and promote future community inclusiveness.
 
The first phase of the project was completed in 2020, which included adding a Park Avenue entrance and constructing a new shelter.
