2026 City Council Election Information Now Available

The City of Beloit is launching the 2026 election process for a two-year term on City Council.

Anyone interested in running for City Council may pick up an information packet including nomination papers from the Clerk-Treasurer’s office during normal business hours: 7am to 4:30pm Mondays through Thursdays and 7am to 11:30am Fridays. The packet is also available online at www.beloitwi.gov/council.

Four of the seven City Council seats will be on the Tuesday, April 7, 2026, election ballot. Newly-elected City Council members will take office on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

The first day to circulate nomination papers is Monday, December 1, 2025. A minimum of 100 valid signatures of City of Beloit residents must be submitted. Staff recommends that between 100 and 200 signatures be submitted to ensure ballot access. Nomination papers and all forms must be completed and filed with the City Clerk-Treasurer by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026.

The deadline for incumbents who are not seeking election to file a notice of noncandidacy is 5pm Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.

Candidates must file required forms before forming a committee and/or raising any funds.
