Patrol Division

Captain Dalton oversees the Patrol Division, which is is the heart of our department.  The police officers are involved in problem-solving policing, emergency response, traffic enforcement and investigative follow-up to cases that can be best handled by uniformed police officers.

The Captain oversees and coordinates patrol operations.  A Lieutenant is the Shift Commander overseeing the Patrol Sergeants.  The Patrol Sergeants are responsible for the direct supervision of the uniformed police officers. Uniformed police officers are assigned to work in neighborhoods on one of the four overlapping patrol shifts.

Officers respond to calls for service on a priority basis.  A call for service where human life is or may reasonably be considered to be in danger will be responded to much sooner than a call for service where a threat to life is not a concern.  At busy times, our citizens may be asked to wait for a response because of other calls for service, which have a higher priority.

Our officers are guided by the department's vision, mission and values for the delivery of consistent and effective police services. Officers on the four patrol shifts share information concerning the activities going on in neighborhoods.
