Crisis Negotiation Unit

The Beloit Police Department has a very skilled unit of both sworn officers and civilians who respond to a variety of situations that require the ability to negotiate very intense and difficult problems. They are experts in the "art of persuasion" through the use of verbal judo. Often, time is of the essence in these tense situations and the more skilled the officer in negotiation techniques, the quicker the incident is resolved.

This highly trained group of hostage negotiators is comprised of officers, detectives, supervisors and others who utilize the latest techniques in negotiating with a volatile or barricaded person and monitoring an extreme situation.
