Evidence Technician Unit
Our Evidence Technician Unit consists of a group of specially trained officers that respond to a variety of crime scene incidents for the purpose of identifying, collecting, and preserving evidence. This highly trained group of Crime Scene Technicians is comprised of officers, detectives, and supervisors who utilize the latest in forensic evidence collection techniques.
Members of this unit are trained in a variety of disciplines from traffic crash to crime scene reconstruction and documentation. They are required to maintain a high level of proficiency in a variety of techniques including photography, latent fingerprint procedures, castings for impressions (shoe), DNA collection, fired cartridge casing analysis/correlation, and crime/traffic scene documentation.
Each Evidence Technician may specialize in a particular area - from arson investigation, bullet travel (rodding), and NIBIN (National Integrated Ballistic Information Network) analysis.
