Running for City Council (information packet)

Four seats are up for election on the Beloit City Council for the 2026-2028 term. The City Clerk-Treasurer's office is responsible for providing candidates with the information and and forms necessary to properly declare candidacy and run for City Council.

Please note the following important dates:

• Candidates can begin circulating nomination papers on December 1, 2025.

• Incumbents not seeking re-election must file the Notification of Non-candidacy by December 26, 2025
• All completed forms and nomination papers are due to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. 

• The Spring Election will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

• Newly-elected Councilors will take office on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
