Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 18 years old or older to apply
- Must be a U.S. citizen or able to obtain citizenship prior to employment
- Must hold a valid driver’s license
- Cannot have any Felony convictions, Domestic Violence convictions, or any firearm restrictions
- Must have 40 college credits and obtain 60 college credits within 5 years of service with the department
- Eligible for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) certification.
- Must have the ability to speak and write the English language. Bilingual speaking candidates highly desired.
- Additional Minimum Requirements for Lateral Candidates:
- Must be a certified law enforcement officer with a minimum of 1 year of experience as a law enforcement officer.
- Must be a certified law enforcement officer with the State of Wisconsin or must pass the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Reciprocity Examination within 1 year of hire.
- 40 Credits at time of application; 60 credits prior to completion of 5th year of employment as a law enforcement officer from a school that is accredited with the North Central Association of Colleges & Schools or equivalent accrediting body.
