    Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old or older to apply
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or able to obtain citizenship prior to employment
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license
  • Cannot have any Felony convictions, Domestic Violence convictions, or any firearm restrictions
  • Must have 40 college credits and obtain 60 college credits within 5 years of service with the department
  • Eligible for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) certification.
  • Must have the ability to speak and write the English language.  Bilingual speaking candidates highly desired.    
  • Additional Minimum Requirements for Lateral Candidates:
  • Must be a certified law enforcement officer with a minimum of 1 year of experience as a law enforcement officer. 
  • Must be a certified law enforcement officer with the State of Wisconsin or must pass the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Reciprocity Examination within 1 year of hire. 
  • 40 Credits at time of application; 60 credits prior to completion of 5th year of employment as a law enforcement officer from a school that is accredited with the North Central Association of Colleges & Schools or equivalent accrediting body.
